      Black beauty is about a colt (pony) who's name is Black Beauty. He lives with his mother and plays with his friends during his carefree days as a colt in the meadows.

      As he grows older, he learns how to do certain things like how to pull carriages and gets sold off  as an adult horse. He has many friends in the stables like Merrylegs, Justice and Ginger.

      His life in his new home, Earshall Park, was an enjoyable one until his mistress got sick. They had to move out of England but couldn`t bring the horses along and so, he was sold again.

      He meets with many hardships of cruelty and kindness as working as a cab horse was a lot of work. He met with some old friends he made at Earshall Park but one of his friends, Ginger, died from lack of rest and being overworked. She too also was sold from one cruel owner to the next.

       He has seen many horses being whipped and struggling with their workload and hardship. Soon, he gets sold again and this time to a old man with a grandson who loves him. He was named differently everytime he was sold like he was named, Jack, when he was a cab horse. 

        He also meets an old groomer who used to work at the first place he was sold to and was renamed Black Beauty. From then on, he lived the comfortable life that he first had as a colt.
